
New Delhi: US President George W Bush has said that the Kashmir issue is ripe for solution.
The remarks were made when he met Pakistan's Prime Minister Gillani in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
Both leaders are attending the World Economic Forum for the Middle East. Bush said he saw major and significant developments in India Pakistan relations and was happy to note both sides were making progress in talks on Kashmir and for comprehensive peace in the region.
The remarks come ahead of Pranab Mukherjee's talks in Islamabad on Wednesday on a range of issues including terrorism and recent firing from across the Line of Control.
During the hour-long talks Bush said he saw "major and significant developments" in Pakistan-India relations, but he did not elaborate.
He said he was happy to note that the two sides had made a lot of progress in their talks on Kashmir and for comprehensive peace in the region.
