In yet another incident, a minor girl was allegedly raped by her paternal uncle and his son in the New Ashok Nagar area of east Delhi. The police has arrested the duo. The police has also arrested a doctor who administered pain killers to the victim.
Police officials investigating the case said the 11-year-old victim was raped by her uncle, identified as Shahdev Shah (50), and his son Sanju, alias Sanjeev (24), at her New Ashok Nagar residence. The police said the girl was raped twice in a week, first on May 21 and then on May 24. Dr Pramod Kumar allegedly helped the duo to administer pain killer injections to the victim, the police said.
The accused were living in the same house with the victim’s family. Ganesh Shah, the victim’s father, is a rickshawpuller. The accused duo is also in the same profession. The victim’s mother had gone to her native place in Bihar. The victim was first allegedly raped by her uncle Shahdev and then by Sanjeev in the absence of her father on Wednesday and then again on Saturday, the police said.
The incident came to light on Sunday after parents asked her why she was crying and she narrated her ordeal, the police said.
The father of the victim registered a case in the Ashok Nagar police station. The girl was taken to a local hospital where doctors confirmed the rape. Acting on a complaint, the police arrested the father and his son from the area.
According to the Delhi police, there were about 400 cases of rape and molestation reported in the city this year so far.
In majority of the rape cases, the police said, the accused were known to the victims and had been interacting with them.
